ust recently, it was announced that Samsung with be re-releasing the original Corby (known as Genio Touch in the UK) and will be adding the much needed WiFi functionality. Now, just a few days later, Samsung announces that they will be launching a new mobile phone that heavily resembles the S3650 but with added features –including WiFi. So far, Samsung has yet to confirm if the two devices really are connected (they probably are), but the general assumption is that the new Lindy M5650 is the reincarnation of the Genio Touch; considering the argument that it would be redundant to have the Lindy and a Wi-Fi capable version of the Genio anyway.
The new phone will also have a 3 mega pixel camera and a 2.8 inch touch screen. The 3 mega pixel snapper is an improvement over the previous 2 mega pixel cam.
Hardware-wise, the Genio and the Lindy are identical, with a few physical differences. In size, the Lindy is 106 x 57 x 12 mm big, hardly any different from the Genio. The weight of the two devices is only 8 grams apart.
The only drawback about the new Lindy is that the phone has not yet been announced for the UK so we do not know yet if it will ever make it here. So far, the device is only available in Portugal and it has a retail price of approximately 220 US Dollars.
